If you seriously thought Donald Trump was going to commit American troops to the invasion of Greenland…you were a fucking idiot who doesn’t have a clue, even after over a decade, of how the man’s brain works. It’s always the Art of the Deal. Lead with the grossly unacceptable, negotiate till you get what you really want.
Do I like all the bluster? Well…a lot of the time, no. But certainly I like it now.
And I think the only person in Europe right now who understands Trump is the NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte. Most of the rest of the current Euro leaders have mush for brains. If they want to be left behind in an Islamic caliphate, they’re certainly going the right way to do that. And somehow, inexplicably, they still think they’re going to end up on top. Madness.
Canada, what a bundle of sticks* they have for a Prime Minister. And the Canadians are too nice to revolt against him and hang him from a lamppost on Parliament Hill. But he thinks he’s going to enlist the Canadian citizenry to fight back against a notional US invasion that’s all in his mind, because he refuses to understand Trump as a businessman rather than as a politician.
Besides which, a pack of Cub Scouts led by their den mothers could conquer Canada by lunchtime. Well, OK, the US Army could do it, pretty easily. Canada has only one battalion of tanks and zero 5th-gen fighter jets. Someone I was talking to yesterday who used to be involved in military planning said all the war games the Canadians have played involving a US invasion of their soil had them losing no later than lunchtime, with most of their important cities under US control by that time. Carney is a fool…who thinks by signing an agreement with Winnie the Xi, he’s managed to black-eye the hated Americans. Nah. Winnie the Xi hasn’t got anything, either. We’ll deal with him when the time comes…or he’ll fall of natural causes, when China’s economy finally implodes and the knives all come out. (Being stabbed to death because you failed is natural, isn’t it?)
At any rate, yes, Trump is noisy, Trump is brash, Trump is still a Democrat at heart…but he’s also the most patriotic, unabashed lover of the United States and the Stars and Stripes we’ve had in the presidency in my lifetime. So fuck you if you still don’t like him, fuck you if you voted Democrat/Communist, and fuck you if you don’t like what I’m writing here.
Bottom line, I really shouldn’t write these posts before coffee…
