How to eliminate politicians in one easy lesson.

Someone posted this on MeWe.  Seems like a good idea at first blush:

Except it doesn’t go far enough, because for most of them, their “business” is politics.

I’ve long said they need to be unpaid, housed in barracks when they’re in Washington, fed military-style food, awakened every morning at 0500 with reveille and a flag-raising ceremony, then bused to and from the Capitol in repurposed, non-air-conditioned school buses. The day would end, of course, with retreat and a flag-lowering ceremony. All of this being required by law.  Healthcare they can get like the military does.  Or more to the point, let them use the VA.

They can live the high life back home when they’re not busy in Congress….which by the way would meet only three months of the year, at high summer. And no air conditioning allowed in the Capitol or the office buildings.

Also, NO FUCKING CONGRESSIONAL PENSIONS.  Don’t make this a job anyone wants to make a career and retire from.  It’s supposed to be service — not petty tyranny.

Do you really want change?  Stop treating the jerks in Washington, D.C. (and for that matter, in your own Statehouses) like elites.  And watch how fast things change.

Never be ashamed to be an American

Someone commented on Instapundit, referring to the recently-passed 5,593-page COVID-19 stimulus bill:  “I’m ashamed to be an American. A piece of crap created and voted on by crap.”

The bill is a travesty, yes, but the commenter’s rant is incorrectly phrased.

It should be, “I am not ashamed to be an American. I am, however, ashamed that people claiming to be Americans and to be representing the will of the American people, created and passed this crap bill; and further ashamed that I and about a million of my fellow Americans are not storming the Capitol at this moment to hang every last one of our ‘representatives’ from convenient, nearby lampposts.”

The first rule of America Club is, you don’t ever say you’re ashamed to be a member of America Club.

Seems a little behind the times

Townhall has this up today:  Scientists Link This Superspreader Event in February to Around 300,000 COVID Cases

Yeah, it’s the Biogen conference in Boston.  It was already pretty well-known that the first case, if not the first and second cases, in Indiana were people who had attended that conference, with similar occurences in other states.  And that the medical community was already in disrepute for approving large AntiFa and BLM gatherings while disapproving yuge Trump rallies and church attendance.  (Frankly, the Sturgis non-superspreader should have put paid to that shite, but CCP Democrats gonna CCP Democrat.)

The bottom line is, this was known.  I mean, if I knew it — and I really don’t follow the major media, I just see things now and again that I decide to rant about — then a lot more people in a lot higher places than me knew it.

The medical community that’s screaming and yelling about lockdowns and vaccines and masks really needs to shut the fuck up.  We could have burned through this over the summer and been done with it.  In fact, there were knowlegeable people saying back in July and August, based on death curves that had flattened (or at least were within the same range as “deaths from other causes”), the pandemic was effectively over.

Yet here we are being locked down and forced to wear face panties again, because “cases are up”.

Gonna say it again, in big type for those who refuse to see:

Positive tests are not cases are not infections are not hospitalizations are not deaths.

The way the tests are being run in the labs, with CT counts > 35 still being read as positive, means there are shitloads of false positives being recorded as “cases”.  Ask Elon Musk about that.  Or just read this.

I saw also, last week, that there is a perfectly good saliva test that’s been approved for WuFlu.  Which cements me in the opinion that the swab up the nose was never actually a true requirement (because people were talking about the possibility of saliva tests clear back early on), and was meant more as a “make them afraid of the test so they will obey our lockdown and face-panty dictates and avoid getting the WuFlu that we intentionally spread all over the country” thing.  “We” of course being the Democrats in lockstep with their CCP handlers, but it’s not politic to say that these days.

Fuck ’em all.  It’s time to open up and enjoy the holiday season.  And continue to figure ways to overthrow the Harris-Biden Administration [sic, and sick].

What the Democrats don’t get

Or, on the other hand, what they pretend not to understand.

On MeWe, a friend posted:  “The problem with government is that it attracts people who want to govern.”

Which is all too true.  My response was:

As we’ve said before, the right man for the job is the man who absolutely, positively, does NOT want it.

On reflection, I added the following:

I think that actually encapsulates Trump, FWIW. He doesn’t want to be president, he doesn’t want to govern; he wants to fix things so the government stops trying to self-immolate itself and take the entire country with it. If being president is how he can accomplish that, he’ll take on that job. This is his sacrifice, to coin a phrase. And in that, he rather perfectly fits the mold of the true public servant the Founders and Framers had in mind.

Other than Reagan — and frankly, I have doubts at this stage in my life about Reagan’s actual effectiveness — I believe strongly that Trump is the only president in my lifetime who actually has cared about the average citizen and tried to better their lives, and at the cost of his own privacy and personal fortune, at that. Not even W has been pilloried and crucified the way Trump has.

I dunno.  I’m just calling ’em as I see ’em.
