Comedian Larry David is under attack from critics who say he pushed the mocking of religion and Christian belief in miracles over the edge in the latest episode of his HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
On the show’s most recent installment, which aired Sunday night, David’s character urinates on a painting of Jesus Christ, causing a woman to believe the painting shows Jesus crying.
I’m no Christian, but I don’t get the funny in this. But then, I don’t get the funny in most of what Larry David does. I wonder how Larry David would feel if someone peed all over his synagogue’s Torah scroll? Or, hmm, I wonder if Larry David would urinate on a Koran? (Probably doesn’t have the guts.)
Of course all that assumes Larry David isn’t a stupid atheist and doesn’t give a damn anyway. But the point is, why rile up the majority of people in this country just because you can’t think of anything better to do?
