Well, I did it.

I’ve been letting two things hang fire lately because I just couldn’t seem to find time to get them done.
Took care of one today. Finally took a personal day and went downtown to the horror that is our City-County Building and applied for a lifetime personal protection gun permit. I believe I was treated more like a criminal just trying to get into the building than I was in room E100, and in room E100 I got fingerprinted big time 🙂 I must say that the ladies in room E100 are friendly (if you don’t give them any shit; one guy who came in for a criminal record check while I was there got the Antarctic icicle treatment for being a fucking idiot — see more following the break) and very competent.
(The other thing is a colonoscopy. I got the call from them while I was downtown 🙂 )

So anyway, this moron who came in while I was being fingerprinted said that when he got a criminal record check for a prospective employer, they found that he’d been convicted of 3 class D felonies and had spent time in jail. Oh, yeah, in a county other than Marion. To which the nice ladies said, sir, you need to talk to the folks in [the other] County; we only have records for Marion County. To which he replied that’s not what the lady upstairs told me, and when I called down here they just hung up on me. They repeated that he had to talk go [the other] County. He left mumbling shit under his breath and bitching to someone on his cell phone.
The lady who was taking my fingerprints said “Maybe next time he should be more polite when he calls, and listen to what he’s told.”
The lady at the desk said, “Oh, is that the guy?”
The fingerprint lady said, “Yep.”
So as the guy is leaving and yakking on his cell phone he’s talking about the felonies and stuff he was supposed to have done, and added, “I don’t know what the hell they’re talking about, I’ve only got a few DUIs.”
Since a second DUI within 5 years, or a DUI with a minor in the vehicle, or a DUI causing injury to another person are all Class D felonies…hmm.
