WTF?

I’d sure like to know what prompted the League to send this.  [See update, below.]  CYA, I suppose, but I find it insulting, even if I did write a guest blog post for Sarah Hoyt about the use of amateur radio to keep in touch during an insurrection.  I don’t consider that misuse.

It’s the commies in Antifa and BLM who are using handheld radios to coordinate violent protests who are the problem.  Not the Tea Party types.  Perhaps the even-handed ARRL could refrain from tarring both sides with the same brush?

Besides, doesn’t the ARRL board have more important issues to contend with?

UPDATE, 18 Jan 2021: Apparently this was in response to the FCC putting out an enforcement advisory reminding radio users not to use their radios to facilitate criminal activity.  Well, fucking duh, FCC.  And thanks a lot, ARRL, for not including that important bit of information in your vaguely-worded statement.
