Donald Trump has jumped the shark so many times already in this run-up to election season that it boggles the mind that he’s still polling as well as he is. (Thankfully Cruz — the closest thing to a Reagan in the field — has been running a steady race and is ahead in the Iowa polls…not that I consider Iowa indicative of anything. It’s a state full of white farmers, how in the hell does its straw poll get so much attention? Same with New Hampshire.)
So now Trump wants to close the borders to all Muslims. At first knee-jerk, given recent events, that sounds pretty damn reasonable. On the other hand, it’s a complete violation of the traditions that built this country and made it great. As usual, Trump is playing to emotions, not to reason.
I’ll submit that it’s suggestive of the corner into which Obama and his progressives — not to mention the blind and deaf GOP elites — have pushed the body politic that Trump isn’t already off the radar. Trump would not have had a gnat’s chance in a candle flame in 2008 or 2012. So far as I’m concerned, he should have no chance in 2016, either.
Wake up, Trump sheeple! Your messiah is naked.
