This is a mistake.

OK, well, the BSA has released its proposed resolution on Membership Standards, to be voted on at the Annual Meeting in May…and the last sentence ruins it.

No youth may be denied membership in the Boy Scouts of America on the basis of sexual orientation or preference alone.

Sorry, that is a mistake.  That is just a bad, bad, BAD mistake.  BSA is going to lose a lot of faith-based chartered partners over this, and for no good reason.  Each of those organizations lost will be an unforced error that could have been avoided by maintaining the existing policy, and telling gays that the organization isn’t going to be pushed around by a tiny but noisy minority.  Sadly, BSA blinked.

And BSA won’t be getting my money anymore if this resolution actually passes.
