I’m gonna take issue with the Star this morning

since they seem to have decided to shill for the unions on Labor Day.
First, Mary Beth Schneider, lefty political writer who never saw a Republican she liked, writes a story with the headline:

Labor Day 2011: unions at a crossroads
Will the slide continue, or will GOP’s actions serve as a call to arms?

GOP’s actions? Lady, you are a fucking idiot. Are you talking about Wisconsin, where they saved the state budget by telling unions to fuck off? And the Democrats in the Wisconsin legislature responded by fleeing the state so the legislation couldn’t be voted on? And the unions responded by acting like spoiled children who’d just had their favorite rattle taken away from them? And the people of Wisconsin just slapped the Dems in the face in their attempt to recall a bunch of GOP legislators?
Well, no need to read that front-page screed. Next:

For Two American Workers, The Last 10 Years Have Been A
TIME OF HOPE AND DESPAIR

I didn’t even bother to read this. If you didn’t have a job from 2001-2006, you weren’t trying. Unemployment under Bush reached historic lows. It wasn’t until the Pelosi/Reid Democrats took power in 2007 and made the recession worse by just being in office that the despair started to set in…and since January 2009, Barack Øbama hasn’t managed to do a damn thing about all that hype, er, hope and change he talked about. So another article that would be a waste of my time. Next:

Former councilman, who was a major with IMPD, also is charged with attempted extortion

I hold no brief for Lincoln Plowman, but let’s make the GOP-bashing a front-page trifecta, why don’t we?
I told Sally to throw the front section away.
And really: When are they going to fire Erika Smith? Once upon a time I thought Tully was the worst writer they have. It’s now a tossup between him and Smith. Smith is starting to sound like a tinny echo of that racist liberal Dan Carpenter.

  1. Smith’s editorial defending Carson was despicable. The comments were even more so. What is the logic in claiming to defend yourself against charges of racism makes you a racist? It is clear how unhinged the left has become.
My local rag had an article today about the horrible effects of right-to-work legislation. I have no doubt they got it from the Star.
I quit paying for the Star a long time ago. I am sorry I did, just so I could have the satisfaction of calling to cancel my subscription over their current Pravda slant.I was especially offended by Smith’s editorial. It was completely over the top.
