All in all, we were lucky.

So far, with Tigger (the monster Tabby), the bill has reached about $4500. You can click on the Cat Blogging category of this blog and immediately be regaled with the tale of the spool of thread that cost $3700 to remove from his gullet when he was 3. We made payments for months on that. We were lucky enough to have the money to do so.
Then in 2007, Tigger had some kind of urinary blockage that cost another $800 to fix. Again, even though at the time we were paying two mortgages, we were able and willing to pay that bill and keep the ol’ furball with us.
There’s a $4500 (about $225/lb), 10-year-old cat asleep on my desk right now. I wouldn’t trade him for the world.
I know a lot of other people couldn’t afford to do what we did. I’m just glad we were able to.
