Now, if you or I had been on that US Airways plane that water-landed in the Hudson the other week, we’d be grateful to have walked away…and the $5K offered by the airline for our trouble would be welcome, but not necessary.
Seems a few ungrateful survivorsbastards are out there creating lots of negative karma for themselves.
I’ll bet they all come back as geese in their next reincarnations.
FWIW I’ll also bet that the only reason they’re doing this is because they were egged on by ambulance-chasing trial lawyers…who will all come back as pond scum in their next reincarnations (and that will be a net gain for them, at that).

I do not get it, the airline coughed up 5K each. If you walked off that plane unhurt, and gained five thou, I would say you had plenty to be thankful for.
Asshole lawyers.
I can’t imagine what I would have carried on a plane that would have been worth $5K. My laptop is only worth $1800 and I could replace my phone for $100. And neither of them contain data that isn’t backed up somewhere else.
But leaving the purely material to the side, if I’d have walked off that plane and they’d have said, “good for you but no money”, I would still have considered myself grateful. You can’t spend money in the hereafter, and you’re dead a long time.
It’s the fucking lawyers. I know it is. Nobody walked off that plane and said, “first thing Monday, I’m suing the airline.” It was the ambulance chasers who got to them after the fact.
