Well, that ordeal is over.

Voted. Took an hour, just because of turnout. I do have to eat a bit of crow; they were hyper-organized this time, completely opposite of the cluster-fuck that was the primary in May. I guess even a Democrat clerk can learn from her mistakes.
We started to drive to the poll, but when we pulled out of the driveway, we discovered that people were parking three houses down and walking. So we pulled around and back into the driveway and walked. (The only reason we were driving was because Sally was going to drop me back off at the house on her way to work.)
Funny thing…they kept asking for voters with last names N-Z to come up and vote. The line of 50-some people were all A-M. The whole time we were there, we counted 10 people who came up when they called for N-Z, and one of those ended up being in the wrong precinct.
We figure N-Z people sleep in. Somebody ought to do a voting pattern study 🙂
And for what it’s worth, someone is missing out on a great opportunity. If I owned one of those construction site chuckwagons, I’d have been right there in the parking lot selling coffee and doughnuts 🙂
Of course, under an Obama administration, I’m sure that kind of spontaneous capitalism will be strictly outlawed.
BTW, I was voter #131 in my precinct and the polls had only been open for an hour and a half. In the primary I was #167 and didn’t vote till 9:45. It’s 8AM now (I keep updating this post with new thoughts, sorry) and I imagine at least that many people have voted already.
