Hoarse

Was yelling at the TeeWee way too much last night.
That damn Barack Obama kept popping in between dancers to tell us what a great guy he is and what scum Republicans are.
Interestingly enough, Sally didn’t tell me to STFU. Much. In fact, she was kind of puzzled as to why there weren’t any McCain ads to balance it out. I explained to her that McCain’s next big ad buy doesn’t start till Wednesday (read that in the Corner yesterday, I think) and she said, “oh.”
We saw Mitch’s ad, too,

and she agreed with me that Mitch has meant real change in Indiana. (I still won’t forgive him for DST, but I can’t ignore the rest of his record.)
We also saw a Linda Pence ad. I said, ah, another crook, and made some comment about her defending the Chicago mob. Sally said, Oh, so she’s a Democrat, right? I said, well, yes, but a crook is a crook; even if she were a Republican, I couldn’t condone her shady clients.
And then I said, you know, that’s the big difference between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats always protect their crooks. (William Jefferson Democrat from Louisiana.) Republicans generally out them and oust them when they can. (Look what’s happening to Ted Stevens — and look at all the shouting on the Pubbie side that made it happen.)
Whether it’s sincere outrage, moral compass, or just plain “our constituents will desert us if we give him a pass”, at least the GOP is honest enough to shitcan its worst offenders. The ‘craps, on the other hand, give them plum positions like Speaker of the House and Senate Majority Leader, and run them for positions like state Attorney General.
Seems to me the choice is obvious. But then, I have a moral compass.
