Why we're leery of public transit.

San Francisco Judge Bars Transit Strike for 60 Days
Unions, BART Officials Failed to Reach an Accord Saturday Night

Need I really say any more?

Because you just know that if we get a beefier public transit system here in the Indy metro area, it's going to come with transit union strings attached. And where transit unions go, strikes follow...making public transit unreliable at best unless there are "no strike" clauses, with big honking penalties for violating them, involved in the contract-making.  Yeah, like that'll happen.

I know folks who own downtown parking lots.  I doubt they're planning to sell out anytime soon.  Because if you think an easy, cheap ride downtown on my taxpayer's dime is in the bag, you may want to consider what happens when the drivers go on strike.

You could ask 'em how they deal with that in the Bay Area.
