I guess 2 meter radio is the new nutbag rightwing communication medium.  Some clown was just on 146.700 grousing about an 0bama executive order he'd read about that forces everyone to get an HIV test, ostensibly (so this ham alleged) to create a sooper-sekret DNA database of all US citizens.  When asked where he read that, by a ham with a health services background who called bullshit on him, he hemmed and hawed and allowed that if the other ham sent him an email address, he'd send him the link to the website.

Well, I found several idiot rightwing websites spouting that same crap.  Just Google "obama administration forcing aids tests on all citizens".  I'll wait.

Now, on July 15, the 0bama Administration did in fact issue an executive order that addressed (among other things) HIV testing.  But since the crazy nutbags in charge of the crazy nutbag rightwing websites apparently flunked critical reading in school, let me quote exactly what it says about that:

Section 1. Policy. (...)

(...)

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force now recommends that clinicians screen all individuals ages 15 to 65 years for HIV, and the Department of Health and Human Services Guidelines for Use of Antiretroviral Agents now recommends offering treatment to all adolescents and adults diagnosed with HIV.

(...)

There.  That is exactly what the Order says about any program of HIV testing.

Does that say "requires" or "mandates", or contain any other verb of coercion?

Not unless the good old verb "to recommend" has suddenly changed its meaning.  Sounds to me like if my clinician "recommends" that I get an HIV test, I can tell my clinician to stuff it.  This is still the USA and I'm still in charge of that decision.

This is exactly the kind of stupid fucking idiocy that characterizes the libertarian far right, and it IS NOT HELPING the cause of freedom.  You fuckers should be ashamed of yourselves.  There are so many other fronts on which Commander Zero and his fascist band of brothers can be legitimately fought.  This ain't one of them.  Keep your powder dry and find something else to worry about.
