one of my gggggggggreat-grandfathers on my Dad's side was the 9th Earl of Argyll. Which would make me a member of Clan Campbell.
His grandfather, the 7th Earl, commanded royal troops at the Battle of Glenlivet in 1594.
Me, I just like to drink The Glenlivet. No fighting required. They could have settled it with a game of golf, you know.
Now, where's me kilt...
LATER: It gets worse. I also appear to be related to Robert Stewart, AKA Robert II, King of the Scots -- my 20th great grandfather -- and to his granddaddy Robert I the Bruce, my 22nd great grandfather. I guess if you go back far enough, everybody is related somehow...
Well, I certainly hope I'm not now in a feud with half the Scots in my lodge.
In "God bless you Mr Rosewater" Fred Rosewater discovers he is related to one of the earls of Argyll, I don't remember which, and decides to commit suicide and is stopped by a phone call.
That's probably not a danger here :)
