I love NCIS.

And not just because Abby reminds me of Bobbi, either.*

But I do not think last night's episode lived up to the hype.  While it ended the storyline that had been left hanging over the summer, it seemed...too pat.  Too rushed.  Too "tastes great, less filling."  Not enough Ziva and Tony in the elevator.  WTF happened to Abby, little miss braver than all hell?  McGee gets an abdominal wound with a piece of plate glass hanging out of it the size of a Ka-Bar that's got him reeling in shock, and the next thing we find out is that all he needed was stitches, get your ass back to work Probie?  Palmer, who is really not an inexperienced boob but is played as one so often as a foil for Ducky, flubs the autopsy on the supposed body of Deering and Ducky has to "consult" just to figure out that (a) it wasn't Deering and (b) the body was already cold when the car blew up around it?  (Both points that I'd already figured out for myself, I might add?)

Antagonist who has been blowing up (or trying to blow up) half the vessels in the Fleet and leaving bombs everywhere he goes suddenly decides he's had enough and really just wants Gibbs to kill him?  Seriously, folks, Deering could have just called him and said, meet me for a cup of coffee, I'm ready to die, for all the plot holes that had to be filled to get to that point.

Sorry, but I was unimpressed.  They need to do a lot better than this.  With all the loose ends they needed to wrap up, this should have been at least a two-part premiere.

And they're bringing in a crisis counselor for episode two?  Kill me now.  This show used to be damn near the only thing watchable on TV; please don't fuck it up.

* In my mind's eye, I see Bobbi standing in the middle of Abby's lab in a fugue state, with her mind buzzing around the question:  "What do I play with first?"
