Yesterday afternoon, I received a very important phone call from Cleveland, Ohio (which is what prompted the previous post). I had just been elected to receive the 33rd Degree, Sovereign Grand Inspector General (Honorary), of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America, next August in Washington, D.C.
(Yes. They make you wait a year.)
(And yes. It's very, very cool.)

I believe it remains a great disappointment to my Dad that neither my brother nor I became Masons. We are the first non-members in either side of my family for generations.
It's never too late; I didn't join till I was 39. I can hook you up if you're interested. There are some good lodges in your area.
