Tenth blogiversary.

Yay me :)

Happy Anniversary of the Last Day of the Battle of Midway.*  Oh, and Happy D-Day.

---------------------

* Yes, I know Wikipedia says it ended on the 7th.  Bullshit.  The last shots were fired at Hammann and Yorktown by the Japanese sub I-168 on the late afternoon of June 6.  The fact that Yorktown didn't sink until 0500 on 7 June is irrelevant; the battle ended with the last shots fired and the last deaths directly attributable to the action. (In point of fact, I would argue that the sinkings of Hammann and Yorktown weren't really even part of the battle, given that Yorktown had previously retired due to battle damage, but rather, they were the result of a separate engagement by an aggressor who was not aware that the survivors of his own battle fleet had retired.)

Note @3:49PM: This entry was scheduled to be posted at midnight. Apparently my cron job isn't working...
