Fucking Blogspot.

Every damn Blogspot blog that I've read today has taken for-fucking-EVER to load.

This can't be due to breakage on my end.  Everything else is nice and snappy, including multiple remote desktop sessions to my employer's secure undisclosed colocation in DC.

I remember when Blogger used to be erratic, but at least it loaded in something like less than geologic time.  It's pretty clear even without recent testimony from Frank James and other bloggers that Google has screwed the pooch in re Blogger.

Unlike Frank (and I do understand his attitude even if I don't agree with it), I'm willing to put a little money in the flow of trade and have my own website and domain(s).  But I work in the business, and have always felt I needed real-world development space (as opposed to running web servers on my own intranet, which of course I do as well for testing purposes).  So it's no skin off my teeth to have Movable Type running on my hosted server, even if Hosting Matters hasn't offered MT in their auto-install options for years.  (Yes, I still run Movable Type.  I like it and understand it and since it's written in PHP I can even hack it a bit.)

On the other hand, I moved away from Blogspot so long ago that I've almost forgotten what the Blogger interface is like.  The only reason I still have an account there is that it makes it easier to link my comments on Blogger blogs back to this blog; my Blogger template contains a redirect that takes you here pretty much instantly.
