and stop kowtowing to so-called business interests.
The chances of getting Indiana back on Central Time died again yesterday when the House Transportation Committee declined to vote on a measure to ask the US DOT to hold hearings on the possibility of making that change.
But the Indiana Chamber of Commerce said the current system is the way to go."We have several regional economies based on our geography. Folks in the western part of the state would be pleased. Folks in the eastern, central parts of the state would not be pleased," said Vice President Cameron Carter. "We have polled our members. The business community is behind the status quo."
Fuck you, Indiana Chamber of Commerce; I live in the central part of Indiana and I would LOVE to see us back on Central Time. I have no use for daylight after 9PM in the summer.
And fuck the members of the House Transportation Committee, too, for not even having the balls to take a vote. All you would have been voting on was whether or not to ask the US DOT to hold hearings, which it might not even do. Cowards, the lot of you.
May I humbly suggest that the time zone we are in is perfectly fine. What we need to do is abolish the oxymoronic Daylight Saving Time.
As was clearly demonstrated in the study done comparing energy use in Indiana the year before and the year after the switch to DST is just a giant pain in the neck.
Sorry. I like Central Time. It's what we ought to be on. It's what we were on for years (from the Standard Time Act, 1918, until 1961) before either the idiotic ICC decided we were better off on New York time than Chicago time.
I do agree that DST is a waste of any number of things, including but not limited to time.
