If Charlie White had stepped down immediately...

...five will get you ten he wouldn't be a convicted felon today, because the courts would have simply slapped his hands and been done with it...if in fact the judge wouldn't have dismissed the case altogether or reduced the felony charges to misdemeanors, since it didn't matter anymore.

Additionally, the fishwarp wouldn't be gloating and the Dems wouldn't be screaming for their failed candidate to succeed him instantly, because it just would have happened.

Not that I think Vop Osili would make a better SoS (because he probably won't), but in the process of fighting this every step of the way, Charlie dragged the state GOP into the mud with him and that's not cool. Daniels should have told him to step down months ago. And done so publicly. After all, what did Daniels have to lose? He's a has-been.

All I can really say is that a year's house arrest isn't sufficient, in my mind; Charlie White ought to be in prison, just on general principles, for being an ass about the entire thing. He "inadvertently" moved out of his district and didn't know it? It was his job to know that. Just like it was his job to transfer his voter registration and vote in the correct precinct.

We don't need people like Charlie White in government.

Now, can we finally get rid of Richard Lugar for his nearly forty years of ghost residency?

I am still not sure how the loser in the election automatically gets the job?

I refused to vote forWhite because of the controversy.

I agree, The Gov should have demanded a resignation months ago.

The claim is that since White was ineligible to run, his opponent gets the office by default.
