I think it's high time that the GOP gave up on debates, straw polls and primary elections and reverted to doing its nominating in smoke-filled* rooms with the party faithful in attendance -- you know, the old-fashioned way. We had much better candidates before the Democraps started picking them for us.
This Iowa caucus today has about as much value as the New Hamshire primary: Really, none at all when the field is as wide and as diverse as it presently is. And all the establishment media debates have done nothing but play right into the Democraps' hands.
We could have a candidate already vetted, tanned, rested, articulate, and ready to take on Commander Zero. But we don't. We have a bunch of also-rans whose main achievements to date are that they've managed to stay alive through the fall and are on the ballot in Iowa. And the Gannett Star is musing on whether the "lastest [sic] in the nation" Indiana primary in May may actually have some validity and purpose this year. Friends, if we don't have a solid GOP candidate by May, we might as well give up and bow out.
Anyway, with the current field of wannabes, I wouldn't waste the powder to blow a single one of them, to say nothing of all of them, up. There is nobody in the race that I have strong feelings for except to say, "Lord, you must be joking -- this is the best we can do?"
Ronald Reagan is spinning in his grave. God help the United States.
* To the anti-smoking Nazis: It's a metaphor. Deal with it.
You are correct my friend. The field is uninspiring and the Gipper greatly disappointed. The unfortunate reality is, the caucus is like the scarp metal drives of WWII,not much more than a morale builder. The turn out, for me, will be the litmus test of the resolve of this nation take back our country. CDR Zero has done enough damage to wake the citizenry up and vote the clown prince out of office.
Yours Respectfully

Jerry Pournelle and said, "I've read more books than you have Professor."
Santorum is more socially conservative than I am, and doesn't have the organization outside of Iowa to pull it off.
When we get around to the Indiana Primary, I'll vote for the strongest candidate who isn't Paul or Romney. Come November, I'll vote for the Republican nominee, even if I have to hold my nose and vote for Romney or Paul.
I never thought I'd say this, but it's a shame John McCain isn't running.
Oops, my previews comment got eaten by Captcha. Then I cut and pasted part of it.
What I was trying to say the best President I can remember was a divorced ex-Democrat who told Jerry Pournelle, "I've read more books than you have Professor." And Pournelle believed he was right.
