Intuit -- 'tis a silly company.

So I fire up the new Quickbooks 2011 software I bought and installed the other day (never mind why I need Quickbooks -- the world's worst accounting software except for all the rest) and it bitches at me to register. So I go to register.

The first thing I have to do is retrieve my password, which I have inexplicably not written down somewhere. (I have a 16 page secure document that contains all of my active logins and passwords. What a world.) So I do that. And I go to change the password, and the system wants all my information -- name, address, ring size, wife's glove size, etc. So I put all that crapola in.

Now I have to log into the registration interface. So I do so.

And it wants all the same FUCKING information AGAIN.

What's the point of having an account, requiring me to log into it to register the software, and then NOT USING THE ACCOUNT INFORMATION ALREADY PROVIDED?

And now I am even more completely unimpressed, because their online registration is not working.

We're sorry, but your registration was interrupted

•The process may have expired for security reasons after a period of inactivity

•Your internet connection may have been temporarily disrupted

Please begin your registration again, or register by phone

Neither of these apply. Assholes.

EDIT TO ADD: Apparently this is not just a bug, it's a feature.

Thanks for reminding me why I don't use Quicken to manage my finances. Only Intuit could make me wish that Microsoft hadn't left a product niche. And no, I don't use TurboTax to do my taxes either.
