that apparently Cong. Andre Carson now has special police protection at his home in the wake of the Giffords shooting in Tucson.
Why, pray tell?
What has Cong. Grandson, er, Carson, done in Congress that could possibly have annoyed anyone, let alone a freak like the dude in Tucson?*
This seems like a massive waste of taxpayer money and police time to me.
------------
* I mean, seriously -- has he introduced any legislation or done anything at all to make his neck stick out? Doesn't seem like it to me.
Well, he did make up lies about being slurred on the big "I hope someone calls us the n-word" march across the lawn of the Capitol after the healthcare vote. And he has the last name of Carson.
Why is it lost on the egotistical bastards like Carson that the gunman was a nutjob, it had nothing to do with politics?
Yeah, I remember that now, but he's such a non-entity that I had to be reminded of it :)
In all fairness to Rep. Carson, his job requires him to do something dangerous that I choose not to do. He has to have a residence in the 7th Congressional District.
It is a shame that the taxpayers of his district can't get the same protection that they're paying the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to provide Mr. Carson with.
I'd make the point that I live and work in the Seventh and I don't feel particularly at risk. Different areas carry different risks. Of course I can go four blocks south and about six west and I'd agree with you wholeheartedly that that's a dangerous area.
Anyway, nobody is going to check up on Andre to see if he's actually living where he says he is. You may recall that he got his start in local politics when the guy who previously held his seat on the City-County Council was dumped for living on the wrong side of the street.
