He said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said, "we can't have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back."
Let's take that a phrase at a time.
He said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch
The economy was doing just fine in 2006, when Democrats took over Congress and proceeded to spend even more money than the Republicans were already spending. No love lost for the Pubbies here, but the economy tanked after the Dems took power. (Bush in the White House counts for nothing, he was too busy being friends with everybody -- his one major character flaw that I simply can't forgive). So to recap, any ditch-driving was done by the Dems.
and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out.
In whose world was it pulled out? Your fantasy world? Hell, it's still mired axle-deep and the freeze is comin'.
Now that progress has been made,
I refer you to my previous comment.
he said, "we can't have special interests sitting shotgun.
K Street always flourishes under Dems, doesn't flourish so much under Pubbies. Try another scapegoat. Oh, and it's "riding shotgun", you egregious populist fuck.
We gotta have middle class families up in front.
I assure you, Barry, middle class families don't want any more of your "help".
We don't mind the Republicans joining us.
Really.
They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back."
Aaaand the second black President plays the race card. Nice. Fuck you, Barry.
The truth is that a lot of the American people want to borrow themselves into bankruptcy. Actually, they don't want too, they're simply to naive not to. The private sector has figured this out and done something about it. The public sector's solution is to step up its borrowing. So now our government is borrowing like there is no tomorrow.
