I love this song. Sally loves this song. We do the duet whenever it comes on the radio. It is without a doubt THE anthem of our high school years.

Apparently it has remained popular with the college set. I'll never forget attending an ΑΦΩ function in 1995 in Columbia, Maryland, where a personage no less than the then-National President of the Fraternity dragged me into a line dance based on it.

Great fun...and it helped to be a couple of drinks in.

I didn't realize until I was looking in Wiki just now that the female vocal was done by Ellen Foley...one of whose claims to fame was that she played the public defender for a season on Night Court, just before Markie Post. Anyway, the other thing I didn't realize till just now was that Karla DeVito -- the lovely brunette singing in the video -- was actually lip-syncing Foley's vocal!

The world is weird.

Meatloaf is still one of my all time favorites.

One of the great lessons of my adolescence was sitting in the car with my dad while he played this song for me. When it was over, he turned to me and said, "And that's what boys are thinking!" Sure stuck with me ...

Joanna, I can guarantee you that the level of committment to promises suggested by the end of that song was not anywhere on the radar of any young beast, er, man, that I knew at that age...and that song came out the year I graduated from high school :)

Maybe things have changed.

Actually, my dad meant that boys will promise anything just to get a little nookie.

Good. Because most boys ought to be nailed up into casks and fed through the bung until they're adults.
