Just in time for the Glorious Fourth.
Sally is not pleased with me (she wants a standard flag), but a stand on principle must come before domestic bliss, IMHO.

No, no. If you cannot provide security and the pursuit of happiness at home, what good . . . um, that is, if Sally wants a standard flag - then prudence, as well as an invitation to sleep indoors over the weekend, seems to be - get the standard flag, fly it proudly. You will know the importance of taking a stand on principles. And Sally will enjoy knowing that you don't mind it when she is right. Your protest is not, and should not be, against Sally.
As Lincoln pointed out (Night at the Museum 2), a house divided cannot stand for long.
Well, I'd agree with you and Lincoln, except that a) she's a Democrat, so my protest IS against her, and b) we've managed to live this way for nine years without killing each other :)
I also have guns, which upset her when she sees them. Not when I shoot them, mind you -- all she has to do is see them. As long as I keep them under cover, she's got no problem, because by some fiction that only works for Democrats (I believe this is similar to the "la la la I don't hear you" fiction), they exist only if she can see them.
And I did sleep indoors last night. No huhu.
