Doctor says I have asthmatic bronchitis, which apparently is just a step up from pneumonia. She said I "rattle" on my right side. So I now have antibiotics, Mucinex, and an albuterol inhaler, and I'm going to take it easy for the next couple of days.
Does anybody NOT have this shit this year?
Man, I thought I was going to avoid it this year, because Sally got it right after I finished two weeks of 750mg/day Levaquin for a little flareup of prostatitis. Even the doc today was surprised that I'm sick after having the "big guns" floating around in my system.
After doing some reading about asthmatic bronchitis, though, I suspect what happened was this: I have chronic bronchitis anyway. And Hodapp and I were in the Elbow Room last Thursday night for dinner after the Temple Board meeting...and you had to cut the smoke with a sword just to get in. I think that's what triggered it, because although the coughing started on Saturday, I had a scratchy throat and some phlegm coming up on Friday.
So I think I'm going to have to start avoiding smoky bars from now on, which sort of grieves me to the max.
I must say though that I'd forgotten what using an inhaler was like. That stuff is the clear quill, baby...Sally thought I was high when she left. :)
Albuterol is the shit. Asthmatics such as myself have come to regard Albuterol as one of the greatest gifts ever from science.
Smoky bars and I haven't gotten along for quite some time, so I know what you mean.
