Gunnery, by Colt!

Well, the two Rachels — the Doctrinaire one and the Queen of Rants — have posted pictures of their guns, and it seems to be a popular blog thing, so I’ve decided to let y’all know that I do indeed have a working weapon.

Unfortunately I inherited this little beauty from my father in January. I wish he was still around to fire it himself. If he were, I’d probably have that Glock 9mm I was drooling over last year.
I guess I can live with an 7-shot clip. Got two of them.

Lefty Democrats? Who cares what they have to say?

It occurs to me that the lefty Dems are against the suppression of Goddamn Insane for one reason and one reason only: If Bush successfully suppresses the Butcher, the Dems lose the House, the Senate, and the White House for at least the next decade.
I can’t imagine any other reason for the panic on the left at this point. They’ll try to stop Bush any way they can because they know his success is their loss. Even if their success means Saddam gets the Bomb. Nothing counts anymore for the left but their own personal victory. The rest of the country can go hang for all they care; if Bush provided video proof that Saddam was buggering little boys, they’d likely excuse it on the grounds of lifestyle enablement or some other lefty-mouth idiocy.
The left is losing, if in fact it hasn’t already lost. It no longer has any moral authority.

Celebrities? Who cares what they have to say?

Rachel went off on Babs Streisand this morning and, while I completely agree with what she had to say about the worthless bitch, I don’t think she took it far enough. It doesn’t end with Babs, the entire celebrity establishment needs to be taken on.
I see that Fox News is running a segment (oh, it just ended) talking about what celebrities have to say about the war. But, Fox, as much as I love you and lust in my heart for Linda Vester,
WHO CARES WHAT A BUNCH OF RICH DILETTANTE HOLLYWOOD ACTORS HAVE TO SAY?
Why do the media go to these people like they are the Oracle of Delphi, hanging on their every word for our guidance in all our affairs? With certain notable exceptions like Chuck Heston and Tom Selleck, THEY KNOW NOTHING AND HAVE NOTHING TO ADD TO THE CONVERSATION. They abuse their bully pulpit because they know people will listen. And in a Clinton/Gore administration, they might have been listened to.
Thankfully the grownups are in charge of the asylum now and whining and mewling sounds from the direction of Hollywood will be rightly ignored.

Time to take out the trash

According to Fox News, former Afghan Prime Minister Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has declared war on US troops in Afghanistan.
Time to take out this particular specimen of trash. I vote for a JDAM right up his ass. On the other hand, our troops seem to be ready:

At a U.S. military base called Camp Salerno in southeastern Afghanistan, Lt. Col. Martin Schweitzer said they were aware of Hekmatyar and the threat posed by his loyalists and the Taliban.
“Bring it on,” Schweitzer said. “We’re more than ready to handle any of the threats that are out there.”

Morgan Strong? Never heard of him

Who is this asshole, and why is JWR running his tripe?

Arafat’s aide told me that Bush, Powell and even, Rice has refused to speak with Arafat directly. Arafat has to go through a third party if he wants to ask Powell or Bush, or Rice for help. Now this is silly, silly. I remember sitcoms with this plot. Somebody was mad at somebody and they had to speak through somebody else, even though they were in the same room, or sitting next to one and other.

Um, just me, but why does Arafat (or Strong) think Bush is going to pick up the phone personally and talk to him? Especially at this point?

C’mon, I know there is a lot of sophomoric garbage in the Bush administration,

A hell of a lot less than under Clinton. Thank God.

but are we reduced to pre-pubescent pouting. Please get an adult to answer the phone when somebody calls the White House or the Department of State on the weekends. The president can act like a big boy and speak with Arafat before more children are killed in Israel and Palestine.

Hey Morgan — get a clue. Bush already has said that Arafat is irrelevant. Why talk to him when there are hotter irons in the fire, like whacking Saddam? Talking to Arafat is definitely something I’d let someone less senior deal with.
Compared to the Butcher of Baghdad, Arafat is indeed pretty small potatoes.

I know Rachel doesn’t like Ann Coulter…

But today’s column on Townhall is just too good to pass up.

Instead of obsessing over why angry primitives hate Americans, a more fruitful area for Democrats to examine might be why Americans are beginning to hate Democrats.

Yep.

Ah, Lileks.

Go read it, it’s all good, but the money quote is this (at least if you hate Puff Daschle like I do):

It’s telling that Daschle finally showed “passion” when he felt the Senate was being attacked. That’s what really galled him. That’s what really made the mask slip. I think that the “attack” on the Senate is one of the least significant events of the last 54 weeks, but that’s what got him steamed. Listening to subsequent speeches from Sen. Boxer and the utterly senile Robert Byrd just confirmed the impression: some of the Senators seem to believe that criticism of the Senate is beyond the pale, because it is THE SENATE, after all.

Amen. As P.J. O’Rourke has famously observed, the Senate seems to have been the way the Founders came up with to keep fatuous blowhards out of private industry. I can’t think of a better place for a Tom Daschle, a Robert Byrd, or a Jim Jeffords. You certainly wouldn’t want them running a Fortune 500 company.

This clown on O’Reilly…

…is saying Gore is an important person, who had an important speech yesterday that the networks should have covered live, and whose election was stolen.
His name is Bob Fertnik. I guess it makes sense that he’s the founder of democrats.com .
O’Reilly just called him one of the biggest spinners he’s ever seen.

This is rich, too.

Did I just say Democrats in the Senate were incompetent? They also have a lot of nerve. Pot, meet kettle. Kettle, meet pot.

Senators Tell Interior to Get Its Act Together
After nearly a decade of spoiled records, lost money and three Cabinet secretaries cited for contempt of court, lawmakers are saying the Bureau of Indian Affairs under the Department of Interior has lost its credibility with Native Americans.

Hmm. Who was in charge of BIA for 8 of the past 10 years?
Let’s all sing it in unison: DEMOCRATS!
Whose act is it that needs to get together, again?
