Friday cat blogging

Tiggr is better today. They catheterized him a couple of days ago and let his bladder drain; his glucose levels are in the “normal” range, as are his kidney levels. They took the catheter out at noon today and he seems to be doing well. He may have a cyst in his urethra that got irritated, swelled up, and partially blocked the urethra; that is apparently common for neutered male cats. I hate to say what the ultimate solution to that is, but it was described as “basically we turn a boy cat into a girl cat.” Which of course has its own set of problems.
However, it’s entirely possible that Tiggr will be able to come home as a boy cat and that we will be able to control this with a different kind of food.
Here’s our big boy when he was feeling better a few weeks ago (on my Mom’s birthday, as a matter of fact):

Wednesday cat blogging

Sorry I have not been particularly verbose the last few days. Tiggr, our large tabby cat, had serious urinary blockage starting Sunday morning that the vet is still trying to sort out. It’s possible that he’s diabetic but on the other hand, his glucose levels (which were over 300 yesterday afternoon) seem to have come down overnight on fluids only.
The upshot of all this is that I haven’t been particularly moved to rant about much of anything. Poor kitty. 🙁
Some who have been reading here for a while may recall that Tiggr is our $3700 cat. Thankfully it’s not that bad this time.

Don’t worry about the left eye. Snoopy’s had some kind of infection there since he was born. He doesn’t mind it and the vet says there’s not much that can be done for it except give him eye drops when it gets icky — and it’s not communicable to Tigger, apparently.
Snoopy’s a happy cat. He’s 11 years old and needs a tooth pulled, but he’s a happy cat 🙂
