This fine fellow lives at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. We were privileged to get a glimpse of him last summer when we rode the trolley up from Navy Pier.
(We highly recommend the trolley. Especially the driver. I wish I could drive like that and not get ticketed. To this day when we shoot through an “orange” light we say “trolley driver!” and burst out laughing.)
(OK, fine. I guess you had to be there…:) )

I always forget to do this.
One lucky cat
Reason #8471292 to keep your cats indoors…
From the NYT, courtesy Rich Lowry:
On another occasion, the snipers tensed when they heard movement in the direction of a smoldering building. A cat sauntered out, unconcerned with anything but making its rounds in the neighborhood.
‘Can I shoot it, sir?’ a sniper asked an officer.
‘Absolutely not,’ came the reply.
A little catblogging never hurt anyone
Aren’t they precious?
Tiggr on the left, Snoopy on the right. Tiggr is doing fine after emergency dethreadification surgery about a year ago.
Yes, damn it, I’m cat blogging.
Sue me.
That’s Tigger, the $3700 cat. Doing fine after eating thread and being cut wide open to get it out last September. That’s only $185/lb.
Isn’t he just adorable? (He said, wincing when remembering the pummelled checkbook.)
OK, one more on the cat
Last night we took Tiggr in for a 3-day checkup. They’re very happy with his progress and even told us we could try tube-feeding him only twice a day instead of four times. I immediately fell in love with the vet when I contemplated the concept of getting a full night’s uninterrupted sleep for the first time in three days.
Anyway, he’s eating like a little pig. Snoopy is still being snippy whenever Tiggr gets up and moves around, but he’ll have to learn to live with the fact that Tiggr looks like he’s got his hackles up (the bandage around his throat that holds the tube in pushes the hair on the back of his neck up) for a while longer. At least there’s no fighting going on, or Snoopy would be going to visit Grandma Joy for a few days…
Maybe now I’ll feel like blogging about other things 😉
