Gee. A state budget shortfall.

Who would have figured?
July revenue comes up short for state

Indiana collected $65.7 million less in tax revenue last month than what had been expected.
The state’s budget gurus hoped to collect $808.5 million in July — the first month of the 2004 fiscal year — but instead brought in only $742.8 million, despite gains in sales, cigarette and gaming taxes.

WIBC is reporting that the state budget office was counting on 3% growth. I guess they didn’t get it. Maybe our taxes are too high for growth to occur.
Dear State of Indiana: QUIT SPENDING SO GOD-DAMN MUCH MONEY ON STUPID THINGS. (Like legislators’ salaries and per diem.)
