Let’s compare FDR’s internment of 100,000 Japanese after Pearl Harbor to John Ashcroft’s measured approach to homeland security issues after 9/11.
Lady Ann says, “Naturally . . . the Democrats have focused like a laser beam on the perfidy of John Ashcroft.”
What are we to make of people who promote the idea that America is in the grip of a civil-liberties emergency based on 100 hazy stories of scowls and bumps and one-week detentions?
That’s what I’ve been trying to say ever since Ashcroft was nominated (let alone since 9/11) and the Dems immediately went on the attack against him.
Folks, we don’t know how good we’ve got it sometimes. I can imagine a lot worse things happening in the wake of an attack on the homeland. At least John Ashcroft doesn’t trample the Constitution in his haste to secure things like Janet Reno did.
