WASHINGTON The U.S. Chamber of Commerce (search) is taking a bite out of claims by lawyers targeting fast-food chains they say are responsible for the growing rate of obesity in the United States.
“No one, I think, has ever claimed that a cheeseburger is chemically addictive, right? I’ve never seen someone standing outside of a Wendy’s shaking from withdrawal symptoms,” said Todd Buchholz, a researcher with the chamber who conducted a new study of obesity (search) in America.
No shit. You are what you eat. What you eat is not you.

Nutritionist Oz Garcia told Fox News that Banzhaf’s argument has merit, saying that messages of moderation don’t work for those suffering from obesity.
“We have got well over half the population almost 65 percent of Americans overweight. They don’t know how to be moderate. The way that fast-food markets its information isn’t to get you to be moderate, it’s to get you to buy supersized foods that do make you fat,” he said.
BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT! BULLSHIT!
No matter what you think of the marketing ploys, in the end the consumer is responsible for what he or she consumes. I don’t believe for a MINUTE that obese people don’t know EXACTLY what they need to do in order to not be obese. The problem lies in whether or not they have the strength of will to say, “I’m FAT and I don’t WANT to be fat, so I’m going to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.”
Pardon the shouting, but I am sick and tired of being told that being fat is not purely and simply my own damn fault. I was taught all my life about good nutrition and moderation in eating. I got fat because I decided I liked food for food’s sake. My solution to the problem? I decided to moderate my eating habits. That was a conscious decision on my part made because I was TIRED OF BEING FAT and I decided NOT TO BE A LARDASS ANYMORE.
FUCK ALL LAWYERS WHO TAKE SUCH CASES. MAY THEY DIE THE DEATH OF A THOUSAND SCREAMS. THEY ARE WORSE THAN AL-QAEDA EVER EVEN THOUGHT THEY WERE. THEY ARE A BLIGHT ON THIS COUNTRY AND THEY SHOULD ALL BE TAKEN OUT AND HANGED AS TRAITORS.
