My sort-of-son-in-law and I drove out to Eagle Creek for a few hours of shooty goodness. I still haven’t got my 1911 repaired so I was shooting 9mm from the Bersa, and he was shooting his Glock. We probably expended about 750 rounds of 9mm FMJ between us. I found one round as I was loading that had been pressed a little too tight, causing the casing to split:
I don’t know if it would have caused a problem or not, but I’m glad I saw it and didn’t load it. Placed side by side with an undamaged round, it was obvious that it had been compressed too far. This was a round out of a thousand I purchased from Georgia Arms a couple of weeks ago, and I think it’s the first damaged round I’ve ever had from them.
Aaron also spent a lot of time on shotgun, with my Dad’s Winchester Model 24, which I’m going to give him as a birthday present this year. His shoulder is rather sore, to say the least. He’s interested in doing trap and skeet so I felt like he might get more use out of the 24 than I will (because I can’t shoot it at all, even with game loads, without destroying my right rotator cuff).
Attendance today was kind of sparse, I assume due to the fair and GenCon and all the other crap that’s going on this weekend, as outlined by Bobbi.
