The lawn service just came and fertilized my dormant, dry, yellow lawn.

Were they giving a special on that today? My husband said they did the same thing in our yard today and the grass is nearly dead. The guy said it was keep the weeds down and Bob told them if they could come up through the concrete that used to be a lawn they deserved to live. (Actually I just made that last part up.)
