All you cyclists out there who ride in packs: Stop signs are not advisory in nature, nor are they optional. And you are required by law to ride no more than two abreast.
And whoever designed the bike lanes on North Illinois Street: I’d like to meet you sometime. In a dark alley, with a baseball bat. Fucker.
Re: bike lanes on Illinois. I agree. Designed by politicians who NEVER ride bikes. They should have removed parking from one side of the street and made real bike lines. And done the same on Capitol heading in the other direction. If they can create needless parking on MLK Ave., they can remove it on Illinois and Capitol.
It’s the totally brain-dead morons who pack up and ride from somewhere on the West side across 51st Street and then onto Grandview Drive where it plugs into Michigan Road that usually have me tearing my hair. Any given Wednesday at 6:00PM or within a few minutes of it, this great hairy pack of cyclists blows through the stop sign at the bottom of the hill where there’s a clearly marked 3-way stop between Grandview and 52nd Street, and goes hell bent for leather up Grandview to 56th Street and turns right. I assume they go from there up to Kessler and points east. This is no small group, it’s at least thirty idiots, pardon me, riders, all bunched up and blocking the entire northbound lane of a VERY narrow road with no shoulder…right in the middle of rush hour.
I keep thinking an enterprising IMPD officer could arrive at 52nd and Grandview at about 5:55PM on Wednesdays and issue a whole bunch of stop sign violation tickets, at the very least, within the span of no more than ten minutes or so.
