Convicted in the court of public opinion

No way these guys would ever get a fair trial: BP CEO Faces Wrath of Congress for Disaster
If I were the BP CEO, I’d laugh in this congress’s face.
I’ve felt from the beginning that Deepwater Horizon was sabotaged. And frankly, without any evidence to the contrary, who’s to say it wasn’t? This disaster has played far too easily into the hands of the people who want this country cut down to size.
My best guess, though, is that the ones who ordered the sabotage weren’t expecting the safety cutoff valves to fail.
Had to love Rush yesterday, though, when he put the spill into perspective.

  1. Let me be clear before I state my point. BP clearly screwed up, and it’s CEO clearly bears responsibility. The first priority is stopping the leak.
However, were I the CEO of BP, I’d not appear before Congress. I’d send an attorney to read the following statement. There is a leaking oil well in the Gulf of Mexico, I wish it hadn’t happened. However, it has happened, and my first priority is plugging that leak. If you want a whipping boy, I’m perfectly happy to retire to a nice tropical island that doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the US so that you can find someone dumb enough to play your games.
