Email from Amazon this morning:
A new Kindle software update is now available and will be automatically delivered to your Kindle. We are constantly working on improving the Kindle user experience and have included the following features in this update:
Built-in PDF Reader: Your Kindle can now display PDF documents natively. Native PDF support allows you to carry and read all of your personal and professional documents on the go.
Adjustable Screen Rotation: The Kindle screen can now manually rotate between portrait and landscape views.
Jeff said that his Kindle DX had a built-in PDF reader when he got it. I was wondering if they were going to slipstream that to us Kindle 2 folks. Yay! 🙂
Told ya you were gonna love it.
Still glad I bought the DX, even though Barnes and Noble made Amazon fix the 2 the way it should have been right out of the box… For technical documents with the accompanying graphics I think the larger screen is the right choice.
But for twice the price I might have thought about it longer…
It does PDFs surprisingly well. The text is crisp, even if it’s kind of small. I agree that the DX is probably the better choice for the way you’re using it.
