Legendary radio station WIBC announces that beginning Jan. 7, 2008, its programming will be separated, with 93.1 FM becoming WIBC-FM and broadcasting a news/talk format, and 1070 AM broadcasting an all-sports format as an ESPN affiliate.
They’re out of their minds. Half the reason for having talk on AM is because it reaches farther than FM.
Starting January 7, WIBC can say bye-bye to their claim to fame as Indiana’s premier news and talk station.
Oh, and GROSS:
The transition period began at noon Eastern today, when 93.1 FM kicks off “93 Days of Christmas,” a format of holiday music.
*RETCH*
“The WRATH…of the partridge.”
CORRECTION: I originally said that the switch would occur January 1. It’s January 7 and the correction has been applied above.
My understanding is there have been lots of gripes about the poor reception of Colts broadcasts in the outlying areas, especially the late games. This is WIBCs efforts to save that broadcast right long term.
Ah, the Colts. Always the fuckin’ Colts.
Go Bears.
