Don’t really want to write about Scott Peterson

but Jeff, I think the main reason this has been blown so far out of proportion is — Connor Peterson.
Both sides of the abortion debate had a significant stake in how the ruling came down.
It’s not like there wasn’t plenty there to titillate the viewing public — beautiful young wife, sleazy husband, the “other woman” — but my guess is that there would have been a lot less interest if Laci hadn’t been pregnant.
Then on the other hand, I never really understood the whole Chandra Levy thing, either. A DC murder that was never really pinned on the man who probably paid to have it done got national attention. If Condit had been boinking Chandra back home in California and she’d come up missing there instead of DC, do you imagine it would have gotten even a tenth of the coverage?
The bottom line is: Slow news days make for inflated scandals. You noticed how fast Chandra disappeared from the news post-9/11…and if you look at FoxNews’s front page right now, Scott Peterson is clearly yesterday’s news…
