Barack Obama: President Calls for Gun Safety Laws in Speech About Oregon College Shooting

“It cannot be this easy for somebody who wants to inflict harm on other people to get his or her hands on a gun,” Obama said after 10 people were killed in the shooting at Umpqua Community College.

There are only two ways the foul left-wing murderering son of a bitch could have obtained a gun:

  1. Legally.
  2. Illegally.

My bet is on #2, in which case he’d already committed a crime before he ever set foot on campus.  But if it was #1, he went through the standard BATFE background check just like everyone else.  (With whatever lesson can be drawn from that.)

The fact of the matter is that it is ALREADY hard for ANYONE to LEGALLY get their hands on a gun, short of inheriting one, I suppose.  I’m not even sure you can legally give one as a gift anymore, since that would smell like a straw purchase.

The other point to be made is that if there had been even only one single person legally carrying a concealed weapon in that classroom, we wouldn’t be mourning all those victims today.

Whenever Zero channels Alinsky

I just quote Glenn Reynolds, post-Newtown:

When people say things like “don’t let this moment pass without acting on gun control,” what they’re really saying is our arguments are so unpersuasive that they can only succeed when people aren’t thinking clearly.

I mean, yes, sorry for the people who died in Oregon yesterday at the hands of (probably) a leftist with a gun violating the law (or at least local preference) by carrying said gun into a “gun-free zone” (AKA a “victim-rich zone”).  As is often the case, Tam bores right in to the crux of the matter.

Fewer guns won’t solve the problem.  When entering the lair of the predator, be armed or be food.  Expect more banquets so long as the Left continues to pretend to misunderstand this.
