Sturgeon General flaps jaw. Should get the hook.

So the Sturgeon General thinks one puff of a cigarette could kill you — or an innocent bystander due to secondhand smoke.
Turns out that the scare headline is BS, that the StGen actually said that any individual puff or individual breath of secondhand smoke could trigger a heart attack and kill you.
Yeah, and I could pull out of my driveway this morning and be hit by a drunk driver, too.
This isn’t science. This is scare tactics by an government-backed lobby that hates smoking and smokers but doesn’t know how to get around the fact that people who want to smoke are going to smoke NO MATTER WHAT.
Oh, and I’m guessing I breathed a lot worse than cigarette smoke when I worked in the factory around a bunch of welders, or in the air conditioning business sweating copper that still had refrigerant residues in it. Somehow I’m still here. I don’t see the Sturgeon General telling me that one more breath of factory air (not the kind found in your car, I hasten to add) or another whiff of the product of heat + CHClF2 is going to drop me dead like a stone.
Oh, and the big splash headline in the print edition? Nowhere to be found on the front page of the Gannett Star’s website. I guess it wasn’t really all that important after all. It’s now the ninth story down in the “Nation and World” section.

  1. Nowhere to be found on the front page of the Gannett Star’s website.

It’s national Gannett propaganda: Take a look at the front of today’s USAtoday: Same story, same size, same position.
