I’ve had a hankering for some really good kosher salami lately, and thought I’d google “wilno kosher salami”, since that’s what we always had here at the house when I was a kid…it was Dad’s hands-down favorite.
Well, I guess Dad dying in 2002 hurt their demand side bad enough that Sara Lee (who owned the brand) killed it in 2009. If Dad were alive, that would have killed him. (Wait…)
Damn it. Sinai 48 and Hebrew National make decent entries in this market but they are simply not as good as Wilno.

I have been searching for kosher salami since I was, oh, about 15. You, sir, have just saved my (fakin’) bacon.
We used to get the Sinai 48 at Costco. I think Marsh carries Hebrew National in the kosher section.
…Ahh, salami….
Semi-relatedly, last week I picked up some Lebanon Bologna (an all-beef sausage invented in far-off, exotic Pennsylvania and a bit like salami in flavor) and it turned out Tam had never had the stuff. She was hooked after the one taste.
Very sorry to say a quick scan of Seltzer’s website show no evidence the stuff is cerified kosher. 🙁 I’ll have to ask for a look at the label next time I buy some.
Next time I’m in PA I’m going to see if I can find some Lebanon bologna to try.
Fresh Market in broad Ripple stocks the stuff!
