Flippin’ Android phone.
OK, this new phone I have…LG Ally, Android 2.1 (with a 2.2 upgrade supposedly coming down the pike at some point)…has a nice 3.2 megapixel camera and a gallery tool for your photos, which according to all the documentation seems to support the concept of albums with which to organize your photos. So far so good.
The problem is that the stupid gallery app doesn’t have a function to CREATE NEW ALBUMS.
So after quite a bit of Googling, I finally ran down the pertinent facts:
1) You have to either download a file manager or connect the phone to your computer via USB
2) For each new album you want, you have to create a directory on the SD card under /sdcard/DCIM whose name is the name of your new album.
3) But be careful! That folder name MUST start with an uppercase letter or the album will be unnamed in the Gallery.
4) Then you can start copying/moving your pictures into new albums. Oh, and, the albums will NOT appear in the Gallery until you do…empty albums aren’t displayed. And you have to do the moving either using the file manager app you’ve downloaded or with your computer via the USB mount.
Now, wouldn’t it have been 100% simpler for the idiot developer to give you a “Create Album” function in the Gallery menu?
Fucking Linux-heads. Never finish the job, just roll out the product and fix it later.
