I haven’t really been gone

but since Friday we had the in-laws here, and Saturday I had to go to Kokomo for the morning, and yesterday I wrote code for work all day, and…
So I went to the doctor and other than the fact that I’m close to being morbidly obese, I’m doing pretty well given the daily infusions of better living through chemistry. BP was 121/68…sugar was 118…cholesterol 145, but the “good” cholesterol still a bit low at 33…and I got a flu shot. Among other pokings and proddings. We’ll not go there.
I could have mentioned the blood draw for my lipids, etc, on Friday…where the girl did the stick very nicely, but then proceeded to WIGGLE THE FUCKING NEEDLE while she fiddled with the draw tubes…I’m amazed there’s not a massive purple bruise on the inside of my elbow.
In comparison, I barely even felt the flu shot, although the nurse warned me that it might sting a little. Of course, an hour or so later, the spot where she stuck me is sore as hell.
So it goes.

  1. My wife used to do Weight Watchers, and lost some weight doing it. She gained a little back though, and got kind of burnt out on it. Things seem to be going well for both of us though on South Beach. I never tried Weight Watchers it seemed like too much point counting to me. Also the point system seems to penalize fatty foods too much without dealing with sugar and white flour. I’m not saying fat is a good thing by any means, but replacing fat with sugar seems like a bad idea to me. And that’s what a lot of low fat foods do. I’m wondering how Weight Watchers would work if they just replace the fat grams portion of the point formula with sugar grams.
