A live post as opposed to a canned one!
As alluded a few posts back, we are in New Orleans. We had breakfast at Cafe du Monde, bitches. Baignets buried in powdered sugar and the best coffee I’ve had in ages.
If I ate like that for breakfast every day, you could roll me down the street.

Big deal… I’m in Garland and we got a Whataburger:)
It’s a good thing I just read this. It’s Sunday afternoon and I’m at IFH waiting for the folks to clean up from last night’s wedding reception. If I’d read one more post from you rubbing New Orleans in my face, I’d have gone over to your house and broken all your windows.
Jim: If you break all his windows then his cats will get out, and if the big one gets out then God help us all.
Have I posted about our dinner at Broussard’s yet? Hmm, I guess not…
By the way, I apologize for the speling eror. It’s beignets, not baignets.
Hey Jim — I did bring some Cafe du Monde French Roast coffee back with me that I’ll gladly share with you 🙂
God only knows that if I was responsible for anything happening to either of those cats, there isn’t a corner of the earth that I’d be safe in.
Nathan, I’ll gladly have a cup of that coffee. Sounds great.
The coffee and beignet mix are both sold in grocery stores like Meijer and Whole Foods; check around and you might be able to find them. The only thing missing is the spray off the Mississippi and the dreadlocked “travelers” trying to hit you up for money.
A “foodie” New Orleans brother told me that there are two things that mitigate against making beignets like Cafe du Monde’s at home: You can’t get the oil hot enough and you can’t get the dough cold enough.
The memory is sufficient. It is also zero-calorie 🙂
Sir, I interpret that as a challenge, not a warning. Reports to follow. 😀
I hungrily await your results. 🙂
