Well, that’s over with.

Voted. Watched the little number click over from 44 to 45. It’s all good.
Marion County/Washington Township voters should be sure to turn the ballot over and vote AGAINST the property tax increase the assholes on the school board want. In this economy, tax increases are RIGHT OUT. You do not need another 8 cents per $100 assessed valuation. Learn to live within your means.
Instead, turn the air conditioning off in that gigantic high school. Let the little monsters see what going to school in warm weather was like back when we went there.

Minor quibble, but as a veteran of the inaugural class of the current building, I can testify that it was air conditioned from day one. (You’re probably thinking of the old h.s., now the junior high.)
We still had to walk uphill both ways in the snow, though.

  2. Grouch, if that building was air conditioned when I went there in the late ’70’s, I’ll eat my hat. Without salt.
I know it was supposedly air conditioned. I also know that the windows were open in most of the outward-facing rooms in warm weather. If you recall the first classroom off the student center balcony to the south — which had no windows — well, that was the room where I took my government class in the spring of 1978, and I assure you that air conditioned or not, it was nearly unendurable. 🙂
I also remember quite well going to Harcourt and Westlane where only the interior, non-windowed rooms were air-conditioned. Sally went to Delaware Trail, ditto.
(Oh, and don’t get me started on the school buses.)
But you try to tell kids today that, and they don’t believe you.
