I agree that Mayor Ballard needs to explain himself. However, I will wait to have more detail about what he is proposing before objecting to it.
If he means stiffer on those people who buy a gun for someone who can’t legally buy it themselves, then I will side with the mayor.
If he means doing something like Bloomberg has done, which is at best hiring private to entrap legitimate gun store owners into making “illegal” sales then I am against it.
The way I understand it, he identified positively with what they’re doing in NYC, if not with the “sting” operations Bloomberg is (illegally) running.
That’s why he needs to ‘splain himself.
The longer he waits makes it less likely that what he means is going to be palatable to his base.
