I hold no brief for the Colts, being a Bears fan of long standing (pre-1984 and pre-Mayflower), but even with that bias, I’ve been saying all season that the Colts did not look like Super Bowl repeaters. That two-quarter offense — phew. That defense — stenchy. Those special teams — echh. How they managed to win 13 games is a mystery to me (and frankly speaks volumes about Peyton’s ability to rouse a team to be better than it really is; I do not deny that he is a legend in the making).
And they proved it today.
Sorry, Colts fans. As we Bears and Cubs fans say, there’s always next year.
